New solar panels set up on buildings of Tashkent region's TPP

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 11. Uzbekistan has installed solar panels with a total capacity of 505.6 kW on rooftops of several facilities adjacent to the Tashkent thermal power plant, Trend reports via the Uzbek Ministry of Energy.

According to the ministry, the panels will generate an additional 1 million kWh of electricity per year. As a result, 100,000 cubic meters of natural gas will be saved.

The country’s authorities pay special attention to boosting renewables deployment countrywide. In this regard, the number of solar panels installed on buildings and structures of social facilities and economic entities will be expanded.

The abovementioned measures are taken within the framework of the Uzbek President's "On measures to accelerate the introduction of renewable energy sources and energy-saving technologies in 2023" Resolution.

According to the Resolution, solar panels with a capacity of 220 MW will be installed at social facilities and government departments, at enterprises – 1300 MW, and at a newly built apartment building – 15 MW.

The number of solar panels will be increased not only in Uzbekistan’s capital Tashkent but also in the regions of the country - Andijan, Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya, Fergana, Navoi, and Samarkand.

Furthermore, Uzbekistan put into operation solar panels with a capacity of 65 kW on the territory of Uzbekistan GTL company's building in Tashkent city.
