BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 15. Uzbekneftegaz has installed solar panels with a capacity of 50 kW on the rooftop of the administrative building of Shurtan Gas Chemical Complex (the company's subsidiary), Trend reports via Uzbekneftegaz.

The newly installed panels will produce more than 95,700 kWh of electricity per year.

The company’s statement said that the abovementioned measure is taken within the framework of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s order to reduce the dependence of economic sectors on fuel and energy products by increasing energy efficiency.

The country’s authorities pay special attention to boosting renewables deployment countrywide. In this regard, the number of solar panels installed on buildings and structures of social facilities and economic entities will be expanded.

Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy says that recently on the rooftops of several facilities adjacent to the Tashkent thermal power plant (TPP) have been installed solar panels with a total capacity of 505.6 kW. The panels will generate an additional 1 million kWh of electricity per year. As a result, 100,000 cubic meters of natural gas will be saved.
