TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 21. A total of three wind turbines have been installed already at the wind power plant in the Navoi region of Uzbekistan, Trend reports.

According to the Ministry of Energy of the country, the first capacities of this wind farm are planned to be put into operation by the end of 2023.

Some 111 turbines of 97 meters in height with each blade measuring 77 meters in length will be installed at the power plant implemented by the UAE's Masdar, making it the largest wind power plant in Central Asia.

In early June, the first large-scale wind turbine with a capacity of 4.7 MW was installed at the plant.

The turbine will be part of a wind power plant with a total capacity of 500 MW in the Tamdyn district of Navoi region.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Foreign Trade, the Ministry of Energy and Masdar have signed an agreement for the joint development of 2,150 MW and 500 MW solar PV and wind power plant projects worth $2.6 billion.

Back in 2021, Masdar signed agreements with the Uzbek Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade, and the JSC National Electric Grid to design, finance, build and operate three solar power plants – the 457 MW Sherabad region, and 220 MW each Samarkand and Jizzakh regions of Uzbekistan.
