TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 15. Germany and Uzbekistan are looking to strengthen bilateral cooperation and prospects for the implementation of mutually beneficial investment projects in the spheres of trade, economics, investment and industry, Trend reports.
A German delegation headed by member of the Board of Commerce and Industry of Germany Dr. Volker Traer recently visited Uzbekistan’s Tashkent for a number of events dedicated to the Day of the German Economy in Uzbekistan.
Over the past 6 years, the number of enterprises established in Uzbekistan with the participation of German capital has grown by almost 3 times, reaching 200. Of these, 17 joint ventures were launched from January through June 2023.
The total volume of German investments in Uzbekistan over the past two years amounted to almost 2 billion euros.
Currently, more than 100 joint projects worth more than $10 billion are being implemented with German partners.
Earlier this month, Uzbekistan revealed that the volume of foreign investments for the first half of 2023 fixed at 139.1 trillion Uzbek soums ($11.4 billion), with Germany’s share amounting to 2.7 percent of the total number.
Moreover, a protocol aimed at improving the investment environment in Uzbekistan was signed during a session of the Foreign Investors Council in Uzbekistan’s Tashkent earlier this year. The document included proposals for enhancing the investment climate in Uzbekistan.
