TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, December 18. French Veolia Energy has installed more than 30 small heat generators in Tashkent for the needs of boiler houses, Trend reports.

Veolia Energy said the generators are designed to maintain the operability of the company's local boiler houses that generate thermal energy. They will ensure the uninterrupted operation of the boiler equipment in case of a power outage.

Moreover, Veolia Energy installed two generators with a total capacity of 210 kW at local boiler houses supplying heat to the schools of Tashkent’s Almazar district.

The company noted that each district office of the company has a backup generator for rapid response in the event of a power outage.

Meanwhile, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed to increase the reserves of natural gas in the country's underground storage facilities to 3.5 billion cubic meters for stable operation of the energy system.

Last year, Uzbekistan suffered badly due to weak gas production, lacking up to 20 mcm of gas daily. The problem has not been resolved, as earlier this year Veolia Energy Tashkent, the operator of the Tashkent heat supply system, said that due to a shortage of natural gas, heat at the required temperature is not generated in certain areas of the capital.

The problem was also confirmed by city authorities, who reported that, against the backdrop of a sharp drop in temperature, there were interruptions in the supply of gas and heat.

The officials added that Uzbekistan is falling short on gas resources, despite attempts by utilities to distribute available gas reserves equally among all consumers.
