TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, June 8. The German Rhenus Group plans to create transport and logistics centers in Uzbekistan's Tashkent and Samarkand regions, Trend reports.
The company announced this during a meeting with Uzbekistan Railways, where the sides discussed the creation of the first transport and logistics center in the Andijan region on the basis of the Akhtachi logistics center.
During the meeting, Rhenus Group plans to use an additional 20 hectares of the Ipak Yuli free economic zone's land in order to expand the territory of the logistics center in Uzbekistan's Andijan.
In addition, representatives of Rhenus Group presented their business models for the creation and development of Akhtachi logistics centers for further suggestions and comments.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan’s Uztemiryulcontainer JSC, specializing in customs declaration of goods and the provision of customs open and covered warehouses for storing goods, and Rhenus Group will create a joint venture to modernize the railway infrastructure in Uzbekistan.
The parties signed a memorandum on the prospects of cooperation and an investment agreement worth $40 million.
