The upcoming election is a race involving candidates from three main fronts, Presidential hopeful Mohammad Reza Bahonar said on Monday in the Western province of Lorestan, the Fars News Agency reported.

Bahonar, who's currently the deputy parliament speaker, said that conservatives, reformists and the allies of incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad form the three groups that compete for the post.

He noted that conservatives need to unite in the run-up to the election.

Bahonar is a presidential hopeful affiliated with the conservatives camp.

He's one of several prominent figures from the front who's declared his intention to run for president.

In September, the Iranian interior ministry announced that the country will hold the 11th presidential election on June 14, 2013.

The presidential hopefuls will register from May 7 to 11.
