Islamic Republic of Iran is worried about the recent unrests in Thailand and hopes all Thai parties and groups would try to solve their disputes peacefully, foreign ministry spokeswoman said on Sunday night, IRNA agency reported.
Marziyeh Afkham expressed hope that the emerged unrests in Thailand would come to an end soon peacefully with all sides' serious refraining from tension building and resorting to aggressive moves, and getting engaged in dialogue.
"Thailand is a major country in East Asia and host country to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Peace and stability of Thailand is important for the whole region," she said.
Iran's voiced concern was made after in recent days, the demonstrators have been seeking out increasingly high profile targets, such as several government ministries.
On Friday, they jumped over the gate of the army headquarters, demanding the militaryˈs help in overthrowing the government.
So far, the army has stayed on the sidelines. But the military intervened in 2006 when it ousted Yingluckˈs brother -- and then-prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra -- in a bloodless coup.
