BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 8. A total of 360 trillion rials (about $961 million) was spent on 8 projects in the southeastern Iranian Province of Sistan and Baluchestan, Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji said, Trend reports.

He made the remark on June 6 during the event organized in Sistan and Baluchestan Province on the occasion of the commissioning of gas supply, gas transmission pipelines, and pressure boosting stations in Iran's gas field.

According to him, gas supply and gas pressure boosting in Sistan and Baluchestan Province are the focus of the current government (Iran's current government has been in power since August 2021). Meanwhile, today we are already witnessing major projects underway in this area.

Owji stated that gas supply to the Chabahar thermal power plant in Sistan and Baluchestan Province has been considered one of the major problems in recent years. Nowadays, with gas supply to this plant, 4.5 million liters of petroleum products used at the plant as raw materials will be exported daily.

The Iranian minister added that in the past 3 years, 6,700 villages, 50 towns, 22 thermal power plants, 16 industrial plants, and 6 gas pressure boosting stations have been put into operation in the country.

To note, Iran's domestic gas transportation potential (for domestic consumption, CHP consumption, etc.) is 950 million cubic meters. Gas from Iran's 22 gas processing plants, oil zones, and two underground storage facilities is transported across the country through the country's 39,000-kilometer-long gas transmission network.
