BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 3. Iran has started remuneration payments to 17 million gas-saving subscribers (60 percent of the total number of subscribers) since July 2, Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji told reporters after a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers in Tehran on July 3, Trend reports.

According to him, since July 2, the presentation of premiums totaling 38 trillion rials (about $96.9 million) to subscribers of the specified number of subscribers in the country has started. Iran's National Gas Company has a total of 25 million subscribers. The current government announced last year (from March 21, 2023, to March 19, 2024) that the National Gas Company anticipates offering a premium and discount on gas prices to subscribers who adhere to proper gas consumption.

The Energy Exchange launched the Energy and Environmental Optimization Market on July 2, according to the Iranian minister. Investors embarking on energy optimization projects in transportation, electricity, industrial, and commercial facilities can obtain a gas-saving certificate from the National Gas Company and sell it on the Energy Exchange.

Owners of industrial enterprises in need of additional gas can purchase these certificates at the stock exchange and receive the specified gas from the National Gas Company of Iran during the last months of the year.

To note, the purchase and sale of gas-saving certificates started on July 28 at Iran's Energy Exchange. A gas-saving certificate entitles the holder to a certain portion of the saved gas at a certain time.
