(IRNA) - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei told the members of the Cabinet on Sunday the most important duty of those in charge of state affairs is offering service to the people since it is the real essence of the government formation in Islam.
Speaking to the cabinet headed by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Leader remarked that those in charge of official positions in the government should overlook the minor flaws of the people while harshly treating profiteering bands in the society.
Ayatollah Khamenei stressed public interests should be given preference over individual profits.
The Leader added officials are prone to faults due to their political and financial positions and thus should be always careful about their behavior.
The Supreme Leader also said the people always judge the government members by certain criteria such as their capability of safegurading the national identity, trustworthiness, and their communication with the public.
He called on the government members to do their best to resolve public problems and inform them of their activities.
The president in the meeting said the ninth government pursues establishment and promotion of justice as one of its most important goals and considers the issue as one of the basic foundations of the Islamic society, reports Trend.
