Selling smuggled goods in Iran rises 51%

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Selling smuggled goods in Iran rose 51 percent in the first five months of the current year.

Iran's economy ministry official Ardeshir Mohammadi said over $43 million worth of smuggled goods were sold in the country, Iran's Fars news agency reported on November 17.

Cars, clothing, jewelry, textile, car spare parts, and electric appliances were the best selling goods, he said.

The value of smuggled goods explored during the seven-month period amounted to $21 million, he noted.

The current Iranian calendar year began on March 21.
