South Pars phase 12 second platform’s flare lit

The flare of the second platform of the South Pars gas field phase 12 was lit on Dec. 4.

The platform has a capacity to produce 28 million cubic meters of gas per day, Iran's Shana news agency reported on Dec. 4.

Phase 12 will produce about 65 million cubic meters of gas per day by winter.

South Pars phase 12 started pumping gas to the national network on Nov. 26.

Rasoul Fallahnejad, Phase 12 Development Project Manager, said the first platform of the phase 12 is currently producing 27 million cubic meters of gas per day. And the third platform will come on stream the next month.

Phase 12 is the South Pars' biggest phase in terms of volume of activities as well as investment and production levels.

When fully operational, Phase 12 will see some 81 million cubic meters of sweet gas pumped into the national gas network per annum.

In last winter, Iran started early production of gas from the phase 12 of South Pars and increased the volume to 25 mcmpd in June. Now, Iran is preparing to produce 40 mcmpd of gas production from phases 15 and 16 in coming weeks.
