Over 250K tons of oil, petchems sold at Iran Mercantile Exchange

Some 254,848 tons of oil and petrochemical goods, worth 2,814 billion rials (about $82.6 million), were sold at the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) in the week that ended on Sept. 5.

During the mentioned week, a total of 539,438 tons of goods, worth 5.5 trillion rials (about $160.2 million), were transacted at the IME, Iran's IRIB reported.

Some 106,618 tons of bitumen, 28,684 tons of polymer products, 15,518 tons of petrochemical products, and 5,700 tons of sulphur were sold on the market.

The IME trades agricultural, industrial and petrochemical products in the spot and futures markets. It originally started as mainly a domestic and regional market but has now grown to become the Middle East's largest and highest value commodities market.

The IME trades 180 commodities.
