New IT regulation restricts Iranian organizations to Iranian-made platforms

A new regulation obliges Iranian organizations to use only Iranian-made information management platforms as a bid to help indigenize the IT technology in the country.

Passed by the government cabinet, the new regulation comes as part of efforts to materialize resistance economy which is ordered by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Mehr news agency reported September 6.

According to the new regulation, organizations across the country can use only platforms registered at the Ministry of Culture, Deputy Director of IT Organization of Iran Reza Baqeri Asl said.

Of the objectives aimed by introducing this regulation is to make the Iranian-Islamic culture more prevalent, he said.

He further said one percent of governmental funds are allocated to IT development.
