The highest actual power generation capacity of Iran's power plants stands at 52,000 megawatts (52 GW).

Currently, the country’s thermal power plants, with 43 GW, and hydro-electricity stations, with 9 GW of actual production level, are operating at full capacity, Iranian Deputy Energy Minister Alireza Daemi said July 22.

Iran’s renewables sector and nuclear power plant hold less than 1.6 percent share in the power generation capacity.

This is while Iran’s nominal power generation capacity exceeds 75 GW.

Iran’s power consumption reached 52.692 GW on July 20, breaking the historic record of power usage for second time within a week.

Iran’s Energy Ministry announced on its website July 21 that the latest highest record in power consumption was for July 19, but the new record of July 20 is 322 MW more than that.

Iran’s Energy Ministry warned people to use less electricity to avoid power outage.
