Iran’s food exports stood at $850 million during the first five months of current fiscal year (March 20-Aug. 21), Mojtaba Khosrotaj, head of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, said.
The figure indicates a rise by 2 percent compared to the preceding year, Khosrotaj said, Tasnim news agency reported Sept. 17.
Dairy products, worth $256 million topped the list of exports, followed by sweets and chocolates worth $178 million, he said.
Tomato paste worth $77 million and canned products worth $70 million were the other top exported food products, the Iranian official added.
The Islamic Republic exported 2.1 million tons of agricultural products, worth$1.928 billion during the first five months of current fiscal year.
The figure indicates a rise by 12 percent compared to the same period of preceding year.
Iranian agricultural exports shared 4.6 percent of the country’s total non-oil exports in terms of volume and 10.11 percent in terms of value respectively.
