Iran exported 62 million square meters of ceramics and tiles worth $169.7 million during the first half of the current fiscal year (March 20-Sept. 21, 2016), Iran’s Industry, Mine and Trade Ministry said.
Iran’s tiles and ceramics export amounted to $112 million last fiscal year (ended March 20, 2016), while the figure reached $109 million in the preceding year.
Iran exported $114 million worth of tiles and ceramics in the fiscal year to March 2014.
Iran produced more than 300 million tons of tiles and ceramics during the last fiscal year (ended March 20, 2016).
The country has 120 tiles and ceramics production units with a total production capacity of 700 million square meters per year.
Earlier, Iran’s Deputy Industry, Mines and Trade Minister Jafar Serghini said Iran has the capacity to export over $1 billion worth of tiles and ceramics per year.
The neighboring countries, in particular Iraq and Afghanistan are the main buyers of Iranian tiles and ceramics.
