Railway delegations from Iran, Russia and Azerbaijan have agreed to reduce rail tariffs by 50 percent, ILNA news agency reported.
Deputy Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railway Company for Operation Affairs Hossein Ashouri has said that the sides at a trilateral meeting in Moscow discussing the ways to activate the North-South Transportation Corridor have decided to reduce tariffs by 50 percent for 2017.
The North-South corridor is meant to connect Northern Europe to South-East Asia. It will serve as a link connecting the railways of Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia.
It is planned to transport 5 million tons of cargo via the North-South corridor per year at the initial stage and later to increase the figure to more than 10 million tons.
