Exports of Iran’s minerals and mineral industry products valued $3.6 billion during the first five months of current fiscal year (March 20-Aug. 22), the country’s Industry, Mines and Trade Ministry announced.
The volume of the exports surpassed 26 million tons in the five-month period, according to the report.
Iran exported $169 million worth of aluminum production chain products (154,000 tons) in the first five months of current fiscal year, 115 percent more year-on-year.
Export of zinc production chain products also witnessed a rise by 115 percent to $160 million (91,500 tons), the ministry said.
The Islamic Republic exported 7.3 million tons of iron ore, worth $413 million in the five-month period, 46 percent more year-on-year.
However, export of steel products shrank by 13 percent in terms of value to $1.4 billion. The country exported 4.1 million tons of steel products in the first five months of current fiscal year.
Iran’s copper export also witnessed a fall by 30 percent in terms of value. The Islamic Republic exported 304,000 tons of copper production chain products, worth $303 million in the same period.
Iran exported $170 million worth of decorative stones, amounting to 2.8 million tons in volume in the five-month period. The value of the exports surged by 42 percent compared to the same months of preceding year.
Exports of Iran’s minerals and mineral industry products increased by 17 percent to $7 billion during the last fiscal year (ended March 20, 2017).
The main exported goods were steel products (6.6 million tons, worth $2.699 billion), followed by copper, aluminum, cement, lead, zing, coal, iron, chromium, molybdenum, titanium, mica, nickel, decorative stones and antimony.
