Russia and Iran need to step up work to increase the volume of trade in national currencies, the Russian Energy Minister and co-chairman of the Russian-Iranian commission for trade and economic cooperation, Alexander Novak, said at a meeting of the commission, RIA Novosti reported.
Overall, the trade turnover between the countries is at a high level, he said, adding that in 2017, the bilateral trade amounted to $1.7 billion.
"Nevertheless, there are still unresolved issues. I think it is necessary to intensify the work in this direction with a view to ensure an increase in the volume of trade in our national currencies, and to further simplify the calculation procedures," Novak said.
