The head of Iran's agricultural products export union said Iraq has introduced restrictions on imports of a range of Iranian agricultural products to the Arab country.

Iran will no longer export potato, watermelon, melon, pepper and Zucchini to Iraq, Reza Noorani told Young Journalist Club on May 23.

He added Iranian exporters should not be hopeful about Iraq’s market as the Arab country’s officials, for no clear reason, have placed a ban on the import of the Iranian products.

Iraq has increased its imports tariffs on agricultural products for 25 percent over the past two months, Noorani said.

Agricultural and food products accounted for 13 percent of Iran’s total non-oil exports during the last fiscal year, ended March 20.

Iran exported 6.130 million tons of agricultural and food products in the last fiscal year, 5 percent more year-on-year.

The value of the exports reached $5.93 billion, 4 percent more compared to the preceding year.
