Recent statistics claim that 10 to 12 million people use VPN in Iran, ISNA reported.

Since the day internet was introduced in Iran, there has been several bans preventing users from visiting webpages which are against the laws and policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

On the other hand, this situation boosted the use of VPN.

But the blocking issue became more obvious when social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Twitter were blocked.

"After Telegram was blocked, we witnessed a decrease in its use in Iran. But still there are many criminal cases happening on Telegram, as well as on Instagram. The VPN's use increased after blocking Telegram," Chief of Cyber Police of Iran Seyyed Kamal Hadianfar said.
