Iran to develop mines in Kermanshah Province

TEHRAN, Iran, September 8. The Iranian Mines & Mining Industries Development & Renovation(IMIDRO) is to develop mines and mineral industries in Kermanshah Province, said the Governor of Kermanshah Bahman Amiri Moghadam, Trend reports citing IRNA.

The 11 trillion rials (about $2 billion) cooperation deal signed between IMIDRO and the Kermanshah Province would also include the processing of natural bitumen and precious stones, he said.

The following agreement will increase the province’s income from mine and industrial sectors and create jobs, the governor noted.

IMIDRO will construct a power plant valued at 350 million euros, offering credit for exploration studies in seven mine zones in Kermanshah Province, investment in exploration sites, and building roads to Gilan-e-Gharb mines.

Renovation of the rural road to Farman mines and revival of small-scale mines, investment in processing natural bitumen and stone cutting factory are other future plans of IMIDRO.

According to the Industry, Mine, and Trade Organization in Kermanshah Province, a total of 222 mines are located in the province and 176 of the following mines are currently active.
