The farmers' income will increase thanks to nuclear radiation in Gachsaran county of Iran’s south-western Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province, Deputy Chairman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran and Executive Director of the Radiation Application Development Company Sulet Sana said.
Sana made the remark at the meeting on the establishment of a nuclear radiation center in Gachsaran county, Trend reports referring to IRNA.
“The nuclear radiation center will be created in Gachsaran county to increase the income of farmers,” the deputy chairman said.
Sana added that poor crop production is observed due to agricultural insect pests and as a result, the farmers' income decreases.
"While using nuclear radiation technology, the shelf life of a product, especially fruits, may increase by several times and there is no threat to the health of consumers," the deputy chairman said.
“Microbes are destroyed as a result of using nuclear radiation,” Sana said. “The nuclear radiation is also used in destroying disease-causing germs.”
