By Fatih Karimov – Trend:

Iranian foreign ministry’s spokesman Bahram Qasemi has rejected the reports that say Tehran and Washington had negotiations on the recent ceasefire in Syria.

“No talks have been held between Iran and the US over the regional issues,” Qasemi said, Tasnim news agency reported Sept. 14.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran and the US have had and will have no contact, consultation or dialogue on regional issues,” he added.

Earlier some media outlets reported that the US Secretary of State John Kerry talked with the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif over the ceasefire plan in Syria.

On Sept. 9, Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced a new peace plan to address the conflict in Syria that called for a ceasefire to come into force on Sept. 13. If the new ceasefire in Syria lasts for seven days, the United States and Russia will work together to establish a joint implementation center.
