Iran reveals population census

Iran has publicized its latest population census.

Some 4.875 million people were 65 and older in Iran over the last fiscal year (starting March 20).

The outcome of the latest census conducted by the statistical center of Iran shows that this group accounted for 6.1 percent of the total population in the country.

According to the primary data of the 2016/17 census, the total population of the country surpassed 79.926 million who live in 24.196 million households.

The data put the number of male population at 40.498 million with 39.427 million of females.

The figure further put the human sex ratio of the country at 103 which means there are 103 males for each 100 females in the population.
