Opposition Demonstration in Tbilisi Ends at Presidential Residency

Georgia, Tbilisi, 7 November / Trend corr. N.Kirtskhalia/ An opposition demonstration in Tbilisi has been completed at Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili's residency. The demonstrators stuck sheets with their requirements on the fence of the residency.

The opposition demand early presidential and parliamentary elections; liberation of political prisoners; freedom to media and return of the Imedi TV company to the family of Patarkatseshvili; improvement of the election legislation.

At the residency, demonstrators again subjected President Saakashvili to harsh criticism and demanded his resignation. 

After the demonstration, the participants went to the Holy Trinity Cathedral which is nearby the residency to pray for "peace and freedom".

Next time the opposition will gather at the Imedi TV company on 23 November.
