Georgia and the U.S. enjoy stable partnership based on common aspirations and values, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said to a joint press conference with Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri in Washington before the inaugural meeting of the Georgian-American Commission within the Charter on strategic cooperation.

Georgia and the U.S. enjoy stable partnership based on common aspirations and values, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said to a joint press conference with Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri in Washington before the inaugural meeting of the Georgian-American Commission within the Charter on strategic cooperation.  
"We reaffirm our support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia and it is the starting point that defines our relationship in the international arena," she said.
Clinton welcomed Georgia's aspirations to NATO and the EU. "We support an annual action program of Georgia within the Georgia-NATO Council. In this connection, we note the progress in reforming the army, in which the U.S. assists Georgia," she said.
U.S. Secretary of State noted Georgia's participation in peacekeeping operations in Afghanistan, expressing her condolences over the death of four soldiers of the Georgian contingent last week in Helmand province.
