EU, UN promote the development of agriculture in Adjara

Head of the Adjara government Archil Habadze, deputy head of the EU mission in Georgia Ramon Reigada and deputy permanent representative to the UN Development Programme (UNDP) Inita Paulovich will sign an agreement for launchng programs to promote agricultural development in Adjara.

Head of the Adjara government Archil Habadze, deputy head of the EU mission in Georgia Ramon Reigada and deputy permanent representative to the UN Development Programme (UNDP) Inita Paulovich will sign an agreement for launchng programs to promote agricultural development in Adjara.

The three-year project ENPARD program provides assistance to small farmers of Adjara, ühich budget is 3.3 million euros.

The project partners are the Government of Adjara and Adjara agricultural service, its primary goal - improving the efficiency of agriculture, strengthening of small-scale farmers as the main support of the agricultural sector and institutional development of the Ministry of Agriculture of Adjara.

Development Initiative of Agriculture of Adjara is part of the European Neighbourhood Policy ENPARD.

The program began in Georgia in March 2013 and aims to increase food production and reduce poverty in rural areas. Budget of ENPARD in Georgia is 40 million euros.
