The ex-mayor of Tbilisi, the head of the election headquarters of Georgia's oppositional United National Movement, Gigi Ugulava was detained at the Tbilisi airport at 06:00, on July 3, as he was traveling to Kiev and Chisinau.
The representatives of the law enforcement agencies didn't specify the reasons for the detainment.
On July 2, the Tbilisi City Court did not sustain a motion that would have allowed Ugulava to pay a bail of 50,000 laris ($1= 1.76 lari) and stripped him of his passport and identification documents.
Georgia's financial police accuse Ugulava of embezzling a total of 50 million laris.
