Georgian potato exports from January through September 2021 amounted to $10.3 million (30,000 tons), which is an increase of 102 percent, compared to $917,400 worth of potatoes (3,011 tons) in the same period of 2020, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office (Geostat).
TOP-5 importers of potatoes from Georgia (Jan. through Sept. 2021):
Russia – $9 million (20,403 tons);
Azerbaijan – $614,240 (4,924 tons);
Moldova – $319,600 (1,738 tons);
Belarus – $177,150 (669 tons);
Turkmenistan – $125,360 (871 tons).
Russian potato imports from Georgia over the first 9 months of 2021 increased 13 times, compared to $668,000 worth of potatoes (1,662 tons) in 2020.
Meanwhile, Azerbaijan imported $614,240 worth of potatoes (4,924 tons) from Georgia from January through September 2021 – an increase of 213 percent, compared to $195,750 worth of potatoes (1,122 tons) over the reporting period of 2020.
Nevertheless, according to the statistics, Russia surpassed Azerbaijan in potato imports from Georgia over the reporting period of 2021.
