Georgia’s main oil exporters disclosed

Georgia’s total imports of petroleum and petroleum oils in 2021 amounted to $822.5 million – an increase of 64.9 percent, compared to $498.6 million in 2020, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The amount of the imported petroleum and petroleum oils in December 2021 alone totaled $84.6 million, which is an increase of 78.1 percent, compared to $47.5 million over the same month of 2020.

However, the same figure slightly decreased by 1.5 percent, compared to $85.9 million worth of petroleum and petroleum oils imported in November 2021.

Meanwhile, Turkmenistan became the main petroleum and petroleum oils exporter to Georgia in 2021. Georgia’s imports of petroleum and petroleum oils from Turkmenistan almost tripled over the reporting period and amounted to $191.8 million ($67 million in 2020).

Russia is second on the list among top petroleum and petroleum oils exporters to Georgia with $134.6 million worth of exports – an increase of 3.1 percent, compared to $130.5 million over 2020.

Romania ranked third among main petroleum and petroleum oils exporters to Georgia in 2021. Georgia’s oil imports from the country totaled $133.7 million, which is an increase of 44.3 percent, compared to 2020 ($92.6 million).

Meanwhile, Georgia’s total imports in 2021 amounted to $10 billion – an increase of 25.1 percent, compared to $8 billion over 2020.
