The report quoted an Israeli army spokesman as saying that two gunmen were killed near the Israeli crossing of Kessufim, northeast of the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis during clashes with the Israeli soldiers, Xinhua reported.

The spokesman said the soldiers opened fire at the two gunmen who approached the borderline area, no injuries among the Israeli soldiers were reported.

Earlier on Friday, Palestinian witnesses said they heard intensive gunfire and explosions in the area, adding it was a result of armed clashes between Gaza militants and Israeli soldiers.
