Lebanese President Michel Suleiman stressed that the next cabinet should include both the majority and the opposition, Al-Akhbar daily reported Friday.

"Consensus is my ultimate objective, the president is the guarantee for the majority and the opposition and both should join the next cabinet," Suleiman was quoted as telling the daily in his interview.

Suleiman affirmed that "the president is the real guarantee for the resistance's weapons," referring to Hezbollah's demand that the next cabinet should include in its ministerial statement "a guarantee for the resistance and its arms."

The Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah is the only group which still keeps its weapons aside from the Lebanese army. Hezbollah vows to keep its arms to resist Israeli occupation, Xinhua reported.

The Lebanese president also expressed his support to the nomination of the majority leader Saad Hariri as the Prime Minister of Iran.

Meanwhile, Lebanese recent parliamentary elections outcomes on Sunday preserved the pro-western majority and defeated the Hezbollah-led opposition.

The current Lebanese cabinet should resign on June 21 and a new parliament speaker will be elected. Then consultations would start to form a new cabinet.
