Actress Megan Fox was fired from the upcoming Transformers blockbuster by producer Steven Spielberg for comparing director Michael Bay to Hitler, Bay revealed in an interview Tuesday.
Bay is infamous for his authoritarian style on set and reportedly clashed frequently with the 25-year-old Fox. That led her to tell British mag Wonderland that Bay "wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is. So he's a nightmare to work for", dpa reported.
That was the final straw for her Transformers career, Bay said in an interview with GQ Magazine.
"She was in a different world, on her BlackBerry," Bay said. You gotta stay focused. And you know, the Hitler thing - Steven (Spielberg) said, 'Fire her right now.'"
Her former co-star, Shia LaBeouf, backed the decision.
"Criticism is one thing," LaBeouf said. "Then there's public name-calling, which turns into high school bashing. Which you can't do."
