Turkish Deputy Prime Minister travels to Syria

Turkish State Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc left for Syria on an official visit, Anadolu Agency reported.

Arinc told reporters at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport prior to his departure that he would pay a three-day visit to Damascus as the guest of Syrian Information Minister Muhsin Bilal.

He said, "we have perfect relations with Syrian government and parliament in recent years. A while ago, we took a significant decision and lifted visa requirements with Syria. During recent visits of the president and the prime minister to Syria, the Anadolu Agency and the TRT signed cooperation protocols. Now, we will attend inauguration of our state-run TRT's office in Damascus. TRT's Turkish Channel will be on air in Syria as of March 1."

Arinc added that he was also set to meet with Syrian Prime Minister Naji al-Utri.
