Cargo transshipment from Iraq via Turkish ports surpassed 2.2 million tons from January through March 2020, Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on May 7.
In 1Q2020, the volume of cargo transshipped from Iraq by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 291,375 tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – to over 1.9 million tons.
According to the ministry, no ships flying the Iraqi flag transported cargo through the Turkish ports over the reporting period.
Moreover, no cargo was transited from Iraq via Turkish ports in the first quarter of 2020.
During 1Q2020, the volume of cargo transported by ships via Turkish ports amounted to over 94.6 million tons.
According to the ministry, the volume of cargo handled by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 7.4 million tons from January through March 2020.
The volume of cargo transshipment through Turkish ports by ships flying the flags of their countries in the first quarter of this year amounted to 3.9 million tons, while the cargo transshipment by ships flying the flags of other countries stood at 83.1 million tons.
Over the reporting period, 18.4 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey.
The volume of cargo transshipment through Turkish ports amounted to 32.1 million tons in March 2020. The volume of cargo handled by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to over 2.8 million tons.
In March 2020, the volume of cargo transshipment through Turkish ports by ships flying their countries’ flags amounted to 1.3 million tons, while cargo transshipment by ships flying the flags of other countries stood at 27.9 million tons.
According to the ministry, 5.9 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey in March 2020.
