Some 11.7 million tons of chemical products were transshipped through the ports of Turkey in 9M2021, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend on Nov. 23.
During the reporting period, ships under the Turkish flag transported 1.1 million tons of chemical products through domestic ports, and ships under the flags of other countries – 10.5 million tons.
It is noted that 19,482 tons of chemical products were transported in transit through the ports of Turkey.
The ports of Turkey handled 286.4 million tons of cargo in total in 9M2021.
During this period, cargo transportation by ships flying the flag of Turkey amounted to 22.2 million tons.
Also, cargo transportation through the ports of Turkey by ships under the flags of other countries amounted to 263.8 million tons.
In addition, during the specified period, Turkish ports handled over 57 million tons of transit cargo.
In September 2021, the ports of Turkey in total handled 32.8 million tons of cargo.
It is noted that cargo transportation through the ports by ships under the Turkish flag in September 2021 amounted to 2.4 million tons, while by ships under the flags of other countries – 30.5 million tons.
According to the ministry, Turkish ports handled 6.9 million tons of transit cargo in September 2021.
