Türkiye keeps track of goods its Aliaga port handles

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 27. The Turkish Aliaga port handled 30.68 million tons of cargo from January through May 2024, the statement of Türkiye's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure reads, Trend reports.

The statement points out that a whopping 652,180 tons were shipped from the Aliaga port by vessels sailing under the flag of Türkiye, while a staggering 29.36 million tons were handled by vessels flying the flags of other countries.

During the reporting period, a whopping 1.9 million tons of transit cargo were hauled from Aliaga port.

Additionally, in May 2024, Turkish ports received 34.7 million tons of cargo.

The reception of cargoes to domestic ports by Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 2.3 million tons during this period.

Cargo shipments of vessels under the flags of other countries to Turkish ports amounted to 32.4 million tons.

In addition, the ports handled the transportation of 5.5 million tons of transit freight.

In the first five months of 2024, Turkish ports received 171.89 million tons of cargo.

Meanwhile, cargo traffic by vessels under the Turkish flag amounted to 12.37 million tons, and by vessels under the flags of other countries, 159.5 million tons.

The statement indicates that 28.46 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye from January through May this year.

To note, Turkish ports received 5,289 vessels in May 2024.

Besides, 3,566 vessels under foreign flags were accepted at Turkish ports during the mentioned period, whereas 1,723 were under Turkish flag.

Turkish ports received 23,770 vessels from January through May 2024.

During this time, the number of vessels under the flags of other countries accepted by Turkish ports amounted to 16,272, and the number of vessels under the flag of Türkiye amounted to 7,498.
