The 19th Session of Coordinating Committee on Hydrometeorology and Pollution Monitoring of the Caspian Sea (CASPCOM) opened in Tehran on November 25.
Representatives of national hydrometeorological organizations from Iran, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Turkmenistan participated in the Session, Iran's Fars news agency reported.
The participating countries signed a memorandum of understanding at the end of the meeting.
Hydrometeorological services of the littoral states with the active support of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) established the CASPCOM to make their activities more efficient.
Initially the main reason for CASPCOM establishment was the need for cooperation in the field of environment monitoring to deal with negative consequences of rapid sea level rise.
