The Azerbaijan’s Public TV (PTV) opening ceremony took place on 29 August 2005. The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev took also part in the event, Trend reports.
Addressing the ceremony, the PTV Director General Ismail Omariv stated, the TV channel was established in the shortest time, during 3 months despite the pressure from unofficial circles. We will become the institution to create the national solidarity in the country, Omarov underlined.
President Aliyev voiced hope, the PTV will find its niche in the air. According to him, setting up of PTV in the current year, on the eve of the parliamentary elections is of a special significance.
I believe PTV will cover the entire political spectrum, will create equal opportunities for all candidates; all country’s processes will be reflected there, the head of the state said.
He examined the PTV building and equipment, followed by the PTV flag hoisting, then the President pushed the channel’s symbolic control panel.
