Georgian commercial banks’ assets increase by 5.4%

Georgia's banking sector was represented by 21 commercial banks, including 17 with foreign capital and two branches of foreign banks as of January 1, 2015.

The assets of commercial banks increased by one billion lari ($ 1 = 1.99 lari) or 5.4 percent and amounted to 20.6 billion lari compared to the previous month, the National Bank of Georgia told Trend.

Own funds of the banking sector amounted to 3.6 billion lari, which is equal to 17.4 percent of assets.

The foreign capital in the authorized capital of banks amounted to 76.4 percent.

The banking sector finished with profit last month. Net income for December was 93.2 million lari.

The five largest banks' share in total assets amounted to 75.8 percent.
