Azerbaijan-Russia railway routes did not suffer in an explosion on the tracks in Dagestan yesterday, Azerbaijan Railways Spokesman Nadir Azmammadov said today.
"The blast did not affect the train traffic in either direction," he said. "The trains are traveling according to schedule," he said.
According to Azmammadov, the trains are moving along an alternate track.
The Baku-Tumen and Baku-Moscow routes will leave the Azerbaijani capital today on schedule at 3:50 p.m. and 6:50 p.m.Baku time, respectively.
An unidentified device exploded along the Makhachkala branch of the North Caucasus Railway Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Moscow time. The engine of a nearby train was damaged.
There were no casualties.
Train traffic along the Makhachkala branch carried on without delay, the RBC news agency reported shortly after the blast. Freight and passenger train traffic are proceeding smoothly.
An investigation has been launched into the incident.
