President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov expressed his condolences to President of Ecuador Rafael Vicente Correa Delgado due to the devastating earthquake in the country, the press service of the Uzbek foreign ministry said.
"President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov expressed sincere condolences to President of the Republic of Ecuador Rafael Vicente Correa Delgado due to the devastating earthquake in the northwest coast of the country, which caused numerous casualties and destruction," said the message.
The Uzbek president conveyed sincere sympathy to the families and friends of the victims and those injured.
The earthquake hit the South American country's northwest coast on April 16, 2016. The death toll from Ecuador's earthquake makes up over 400 people. According to official data, some 2,600 people were injured.
