There will be 70 thousand reservists in Georgia by summer, President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili said, speaking before the staff of Defense enterprise "Delta" on Wednesday.

The President said the reserve is one of the most important guarantee of security.

"We started to re-create a reserve system. We have 30 thousand armed forces, but beyond that we need a reserve. We got a phenomenal result. All adult males, regardless of ethnic origin of all villages, where the Ministry of Defence was, signed up to reserve. For example in the Azeri-populated villages 100 percent of the male population signed up as reservists. This is an incredible result, which irritates our enemies and their Georgian agents - so-called politicians" Saakashvili said.

The President noted that Georgia will have 150 thousand trained reservists in the future.
"It means that every village will have its own force, and it is - the strongest guarantee of peace. In 2008, we saw that we needed the territorial defense, and nobody will do it except us," Saakashvili said.

The President of Georgia thanked the staff for the creation of armored personnel carriers "Lazika" and "Didgori" as well as for the fact that it didn't stop working during the war in 2008.

The President noted in his speech the importance of a military engineer profession.
"Today 2.500 people are working here and there is a prospect that this figure will triple at least. But this venture is more than a place of work. It is the basis for long-term economic development of Georgia. This company and this technology is an important foundation for the economic potential of Georgia," Saakashvili said.

He noted that this plant, which until recently, "breathed its last," was saved, which is a symbol of Georgia development.
