Azerbaijan, Baku, April 4 / Trend I. Izzet /

Azerbaijan may sign a readmission agreement with the European Union (EU), Deputy Chief of the State Migration Service (SMS) Parviz Musayev said at the presentation ceremony of the project entitled 'Support for the creation of effective readmission management in the South Caucasus' by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in Baku.

Azerbaijan makes every effort to not violate the rights of migrants coming to the country, the SMS deputy head said.

The project envisages increasing knowledge and education of SMS employees directly involved in working with migrants.

According to Musayev, negotiations with the EU are currently underway on the visa regime and readmission and to date the parties have already held four meetings.

Visa facilitation and a readmission agreement constitute a very important issue for citizens of Azerbaijan, as well as for those from the EU, the deputy head of the service said.
"Azerbaijan has not yet signed a readmission agreement with any state but I believe such an agreement will be signed," Musayev said.
