On the issue of integration to different customs formations Ukraine chooses a sovereign position, Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov's spokesman Vitaly Lukyanenko told Trend.
"Ukraine chooses a sovereign position, based on its economic interests, which are aimed at having maximally free trade regimes with different countries and different customs formations," Lukyanenko said on the sidelines of the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on Wednesday.
According to him, Ukraine is looking for its own form of cooperation with the EU and the Customs Union of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus. Lukyanenko said that Ukraine takes part in the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council as an observer for the first time.
"This is the first evidence of that the formula 3 +1 works," Lukyanenko said.
Earlier, Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov said that Ukraine which analyzed the contractual framework of the Customs Union, is ready today to sign the 70 per cent of the agreements and to start this process right now.
"I propose to move from general discussions to the practical consideration of the provisions that cause either controversial assessments or rejection ... I'm for finding a common language. Real, but not hypothetical threats should be reacted to," Nikolai Azarov said.
