The American Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan held its Annual General Meeting, electing a new President and members of the Board of Directors.

Mr. Ilgar Veliyev, Country Managing Partner of EY in Azerbaijan, has been re-elected as the President of the Chamber's Board of Directors.

Ilgar Veliyev graduated from the Azerbaijan State Economics University with an Honors Diploma. He is a certified graduate of the Executive MBA Program of the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business. He joined EY in August 1994 as one of the first Azerbaijanis to work for an international accounting firm. In summer 2007 Ilgar Veliyev became the first Azerbaijani national to be promoted to partner among international accounting firms. During his career with EY Ilgar Veliyev has spent one year working for the Moscow practice (1995-96) and two years working for the UK firm of Ernst & Young (2001-2003). Ilgar Veliyev is a licensed Azerbaijani Auditor and a US Certified Public Accountant and has been an active member of the AmCham Board of Directors since March 2007. During this time he has held a number of senior leadership roles at AmCham, serving as Vice President from April 2009 and as First Vice President from November 2010. In December 2012 Ilgar Veliyev became Acting President and in 2013 was elected President. He is also a member of AmCham's Executive Committee and the Head of the Finance Subcommittee of its Board of Directors.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan is composed of over 250 members and associates active in every sector of the Azerbaijani economy. The Chamber represents 80% of all foreign investment, as well as a significant portion of local investment, in Azerbaijan. Through its industry sector committees Chamber members share information, raise issues of common concern and propose possible solutions.
