Member states of the TRACECA transport corridor are awaiting the approval of new technical projects in the second half of 2016, Akif Mustafayev, national secretary of TRACECA in Azerbaijan told Trend.

TRACECA plans for 2016 to continue the implementation of ongoing projects related to the safety of road and sea transportations.

"In addition, during the second half of 2016, we expect the adoption of new technology projects from the European Commission," Mustafayev said. "In response to our appeal, they wrote a letter that such complex projects - projects in the field of maritime routes and logistic processes - were carried out in the past, but then not all countries have the political will to implement the project's requirements. However, it was stated that Azerbaijan does all the necessary work in this direction," said Mustafayev.

"These issues in the project plan should be extended for all countries of TRACECA, not only for Azerbaijan", he noted. "But to say how much projects will be and in what area, it depends on the European Commission's decision".

TRACECA - is a program of cooperation in transport field between the EU and its partner countries in Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia. The organization has a permanent secretariat in Baku.

Currently, TRACECA's member countries are: Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Romania, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Ukraine, Iran and Armenia.
